Scanship AWP retrofit startup on Oceania Sirena

On the 9th of march, Scanship will start the AWP retrofit installation on Oceania Sirena, the newest ship for Oceania Cruises.
The retrofit project will include the installation of a full system to process all wastewater aboard the ship to meet the effluent standard of IMO Marpol MEPC 227(64) including chapter 4.2. The wastewater from accommodation, galley, laundry and black water will be treated to meet the highest effluent standard to date where also the nutrients phosphorous and nitrogen will be removed.
The extensive installation will be done partly on voyage and in upcoming dry-dock later this month. A part of the job will be to build up new bioreactors and bio-residue tanks in addition to the complete installation of all new process components, piping, electrical works and a new automation system. The Scanship system will be fully integrated to the existing infrastructure aboard.
Scanship has in the past done ten (10) AWP retrofits with Oceania’s parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line during the period between 2003-2007. The company has further done one retrofit on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator in 2010 for the same group. The Scanship AWP system has also been installed on all the NCL newbuilds since 2004.
